The concept was the first of its kind and taps into a previously unserved market . Huge global demand has seen Selina expand into 19 international markets in five years, with 128 properties globally. Their latest venture is in the heart of New York's art district. Selina Chelsea New York City (NYC) is walking distance from Madison Square Garden and features 61 rooms, two bars, rooftop restaurant and pool. Take a sneak peek at what the hotel has to offer:
Located in the heart of Manhattan's art district, Selina Chelsea NYC puts guests steps from Hudson Yards and Madison Square Garden. The 61 rooms offer sleek, modern spaces, as well as High Line and art district views. Guests will find an all day grab-and-go cafe , a lively bar and restaurant, or if that's not what they fancy, they can climb to the rooftop and explore the restaurant and pool.
All about the art
Staying true to its commitment of bringing locals and travellers together, Selina Chelsea aims to create a bridge between the Latin American and the NYC community. They have partnered with Aperture Foundation, PROXYCO and Subject Art to create an art gallery feel at the property, featuring work from largely undiscovered Latino artists. Guests are greeted with a large-scale painting by Mexico City artist Marco Rountree and can enjoy photography installations in Selina’s bar and cafes too.
A Latin American experience
The artwork isn’t restricted to the public spaces either. Each of the 61 rooms display pieces from rising Latino talent. All the artwork displayed is for sale and, if a piece catches a guest’s eye, they are welcome to purchase any of the artwork through Selina’s partnership with Subject Art.
Selina Chelsea’s party piece
Selina aims to make every stay unique, curating a weekly programme to display the essence of the local culture. Their first week of programmes include, Drag Queen Story House, Nude Drawing Classes and a DJ residency to name a few!
All in a day’s work
This property isn’t just focused on serving travellers. Like all Selinas, it features entertainment and working spaces for locals and freelancers. Chelsea’s herd of nomadic and self-employed workers are well looked after at this newest Selina.
The property’s co-working space is Lady Mara, an open layout café with high speed wifi serving fresh, Mediterranean-inspired snacks and light bites.
